The South African Social Investment Exchange
South Africa's first online social investment stock exchange - the South African Social Investment Exchange (SASIX), is a place where anybody can invest in social development projects. Organisations that are achieving a measurable social impact are selected to list on the exchange and give anybody the opportunity to make a contribution to them for as little as R50 per share. We see these contributions as social investments because, while they don’t offer a financial return, they do lead to real, measurable social change.
Example: A project needs R75 000, we issue 1,500 shares of R50 each.
Our investment philosophy
Through our work with hundreds of good causes in South Africa, and our research into international best practices, we have identified five core principles for social investment that, when adhered to by organizations, make concrete social results much more likely. These principles are:
