SASIX Investment Cycle

When we say that our investment opportunities are carefully selected, we really mean it.

Each SASIX project goes through an intensive 12-week selection and evaluation process including three peer review panels, two site visits, a comprehensive organisation and risk assessment, research, evaluation and detailed reporting.

STAGE 1: Project selection

  • Identifying the need – SASIX looks carefully at where and what the greatest social development needs are and identifies specific priorities and areas.
  • Sourcing projects – our outreach team then sources projects that match these needs.
  • Proposal development – project proposals are screened and a shortlist is developed.
  • Proposal review – our Peer Review Panel assesses projects against development sector good practice criteria and identifies areas for further research and development.
  • Research – SASIX staff carefully research any issues raised at the proposal review. Sector experts are approached for an opinion where necessary.
  • First peer review – project proposals are presented to the Peer Review Panel for formal assessment. Panelists select and provide input into projects that are suitable and a final project proposal is drawn up.
  • Site visit – a SASIX evaluator visits each organisation and conducts an organisational evaluation and project assessment, including a detailed risk analysis.
  • Second peer review – the final project information reports are presented to the panel, including full details of the organisational capacity assessment and answers to any questions raised at the first peer review. Panelists approve final projects for investment.
  • Interim contract – the selected projects are informed and given an interim contract. Projects are asked to provide details of key deliverables against set timelines.
  • Publication – projects are written up and published on the SASIX website and in the next SASIX printed prospectus.

STAGE 2: Investment

  • Business development – SASIX markets the selected projects on the website, in the prospectus and through other GreaterGood channels. We also identify additional project needs and feed these into the SASIX pipeline.
  • Investment – SASIX investors buy shares in the projects. Investments and investor details are logged on our system.
  • Grant agreement – once projects are fully funded a grant agreement is drawn up and signed.
  • Payment – the organisation receives the funds to complete the project in tranches, as stipulated in the grant agreement.

STAGE 3: Reporting

  • Interim reports – initial reports are submitted to SASIX for peer review and discussion.
  • Final report – once the project has been completed, a final report is submitted to SASIX, detailing what was achieved against the original project proposal objectives.
  • Final site visit and evaluation – SASIX evaluators visit each project again to evaluate progress and assess the project’s impact. The visit includes interviews with community members, project beneficiaries and project staff.
  • Final peer review – the final evaluation assessment is presented to the SASIX Peer Review Panel for discussion and approval.
  • Final report – once the report is approved, it is published online. Investors are notified of project completion and achievements with a link to the published report.
