Guidelines for listing

For listing on SASIX, projects should:

  • Be specific, development interventions that address an identified need within a community.
  • Have clear deliverables, where you can show what the outcomes (results) are as well as the longer term impact on the broader community.
  • Be able to define and measure the outcomes and impact it will have on the lives of disadvantaged people in South Africa.
  • Be able to show a track record of having implemented similar interventions in the past.
  • SASIX is looking for 30 number of projects with budgets up to R400,000 per phase of development intervention (phases may follow each other and each reflect separate budgets) and 5 of projects up to R1m per phase. For these applications please use the SASIX application for listing. We are also looking for 20 projects with smaller budgets of up to R50,000 - please use the Small Budget Application Form.
  • Have a budget that focuses primarily on the intervention reaching beneficiaries though obviously the applicable and reasonable operational running costs related to the intervention itself should be included.
  • Have a detailed plan for an anticipated start date and information as to whether this starting date is fixed or movable based on funding granted. Note that the listing process takes time and SASIX should not be seen as an option for emergency or quick stop gap funding requirements.
  • Be run by non profit organisations registered and active within South Africa (SASIX is an 18A registered Trust in South Africa only).
  • Fit into the good practices listed with our Sector Research.
  • Preferably target at least one of the 22 identified Presidential Poverty Nodes, which are: Alfred Nzo; Bushbuckridge; Central Karoo; Chris Hani; Kgalagadi; Maluti-a-Phofung; Maruleng; O.R. Tambo; Sekhukhune; Ugu; Ukhahlamba; Umkhanyakude; Umzimkhulu; Umzinyathi; Zululand; Alexandra; Galeshewe; Inanda, Ntuzuma and Kwamashu (INK); Khayelitsha; Mdantsane; Mitchell’s Plain and Motherwell.
