SASIX Research
The South African Social Investment Exchange provides independent research, evaluation and monitoring to ensure that listed projects meet a set of criteria, including the ability to deliver measurable returns whether these are social or financial or a combination of both. SASIX applies the same sort of due diligence consideration to projects as would be applied to purely financial investments, including assessing need and evaluating depth, breadth, permanence, strengths and risks.
Our process is underpinned by detailed sector and best practice research. This clarifies how we identify and target the social investment areas and, within these, the activities we recommend. Our research has focused on priority development sectors, chosen specifically for their alignment to the Millennium Development Goals, as well as their national and regional significance in the lives of people and communities.
Desk research on the SASIX priority sectors was updated at the beginning of 2009, deepening our understanding of the issues in each sector. Our hope is that this research will positively inform social investment decisions as well as promote effective and collaborative action amongst beneficiary organisations.
